We like the metaphor of the nautical pilot. You are the captain, you have the boat, you have access to all relevant data, GPS, maps, weather reports, tide information and you have a goal for the journey. At certain stages on your journey you would bring the pilot on board to help you navigate through channels, around a coast or into harbors. The pilot brings the expertise and experience to guide you safely through this stages.
